ESF OP Basilicata 2007/2013

The European Social Fund (ESF) is one of the EU Structural Funds and has the task of promoting economic and social cohesion of the European Union through the promotion of employment and more and better jobs in order to reduce the differences in quality of life and prosperity existing between regions and between Member States.

In order to implement the strategies of the ESF in Basilicata, the Region has defined for the period 2007-2013 the Regional Operational Programme as approved by the European Commission with the decision of December 18, 2007.

The operational programme ESF Basilicata 2007-2013, in coherence with the Lisbon strategy, aims to promote the development of regional economy increasingly based on knowledge, identifying policies of education, training and employment as the basic elements of the regional strategy for competitiveness. As a matter of fact, the general objective of the OP, in fact, is to foster the development, full employment and quality of work, empowering investment in human capital and research, improving adaptability of workers and public and private companies, with a special attention to social integration and equal opportunities and rights of citizenship.

Some of the actions that are carried out in order to achieve this overall objective are: Life-long learning, the qualification of the regional school system, strengthening and consolidation of skills, qualification and retraining of the subjects sent off from labour market, support measures for the creation of new companies, social inclusion and employment of disadvantaged people, the training of persons with disabilities.

The budget of the OP for the seven years programming period has a total amount of 322.4 million Euros distributed over 7 axes of intervention:
